South to North – D2

England/Scotland • Distance: 240 miles • Riding time: 5.5 hours • One you're north of the Humber, you're spoilt for choice for great roads. This relaxed run into and across the Scottish Borders is packed with mile after mile of my favourite roads. The route ends on the edge of Edinburgh: it's worth noting that the city has something of a bike-theft problem so adding a stop at the end with secure parking is essential - which for some riders may mean carrying on over the Forth Bridge to the quieter towns of Fife, so I've deliberately kept this day slightly shorter than the first "half" of the trip to allow for that.
